Prerequisites: According to the Study Regulation
The aim of the course is to provide students with additional knowledge on forensic expertise of exhumed remains. This implies anthropological expertise in order to determine the biological profile, as well as the expertise of injury, mechanism of their occurrence and causes of death.
The purpose of this elective course is that students are trained to distinguish human from animal bones, basics of human bone orientation, assessment of gender, height, age, and analysis of injuries and causes of death.
Macroscopic-morphological differences between human and animal bones. Microscopic differences between human and animal bones. Radiological differences between human and animal bones.
Bone orientation: upper extremities bones orientation, lower extremities bone orientation.
Morphological differences between human and animal bones.
Practical orientation of the bone of the human skeleton: head, trunk, upper and lower extremities on skeletal remains.
Assessment of sex based on the skeleton of a child. Assessment of sex based on the skeleton of adults.
Estimation of height based on long bone lengths.
Assessment of sex based on the characteristics of the skull.
Assessment of sex based on the characteristics of pelvis.
Measuring the length of long bone of the extremity using an osteometric table.
Assessment of the age based on the bones of children and adolescents.
Estimating age based on the chronology of tooth development.
Estimating age based on epiphyses and diaphysis connection
Assessment of the age based on the bones of adults.
Determination of the age of the children based on the chronology connecting epiphysis and diaphysis.
